Thom & Melissa hosted a lively, 1920’s Gatsby style wedding at Aberthau Mansion, a hidden gem of Vancouver wedding venues. It was a beautiful end-of-summer day at this hidden gem of Vancouver wedding venues. During their ceremony on the lawn, they exchanged eloquent vows, describing their love for each other (and things weird and sparkly ;) ). The lush gardens of the grand heritage house in West Point Grey provided the perfect spot for lawn games and portraits around the grounds. Meanwhile, inside, guests enjoyed cocktails, delicious mini-meals and live jazz performed by the Tim Sars Trio.
The elegant Art Deco decor was mostly DIY and so were both the bride and groom’s shoes! Melissa meticulously adorned her shoes with hundreds of tiny rhinestones while Thom resorted to painting a pair of thrift store Oxfords for the classic two-toned style he couldn’t find anywhere else. The whole bridal party looked incredible in flapper dresses and newsboy caps, inspired by the Roaring ’20s.
