This New Westminster wedding survived and thrived during the great storm of 2016. It was actually a series of three storms, back to back to each other. It was the tail end of a typhoon, they said. While in correspondence with my out-of-town bride, Bryonie, I made sure we made all the preparations for rain without letting on the severity of the storm, if she didn’t already know.  No bride needs something else to stress about on their big day.  Luckily she chose a local New Westminster wedding photographer.  She trusted me.  I scouted out all the scenic spots with rain cover, bought enough clear umbrellas for the bridal party and waterproof gear for my camera. Ultimately, the storm wasn’t as big or bad as they predicted, at least not where we were.  Yes, it rained but there were breaks.  Yes, it was pretty windy but didn’t knock out any power in New West.

Scott and Bryonie exchanged vows at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, surrounded by loved ones.  After family portraits, the couple requested to make a pit stop at a coffee shop.  They spent their whole relationship in coffee shops, they explained.  After we braved the weather and break in the rain to get some portraits along the Quay boardwalk.

The reception was held at the Glenbrook Hall, nestled along a lush green ravine and surrounded by beautiful gardens and pond.  I adored the vintage aspects of the decor: china teacup candles, old books, silver teapots, and two crushed velvet armchairs for the bride and groom.  I wish all the best to this sweet couple.
