Here goes nothin’. I’m finally re-launching my wedding photography & creative portraiture business after a two year hiatus spent focusing on family, and what better way then starting a photography blog?

Here’s the back story: in 2009 I graduated my photography program at Western Academy of Photography in Victoria and began working my old day job to pay off student loans (geeze, camera gear and photography education does not come cheap!). After shooting several weddings and officially launching my business in early 2010 my boyfriend and I discovered I was pregnant while travelling in Europe. The pregnancy was a pleasant surprise and not a part of my business plan. Not knowing how pregnancy would treat me or how future clients would feel about my protruding belly I decided to put the brakes on the business and focus on the big life change we were about to go through. We bought a condo, Colin continued to pursue a career in firefighting, and I gave birth to a big beautiful baby girl on Dec 1st, 2010 (weighing 9 lbs 2 ozs). We named our little angel, Sevilla (pronounced Se-via), after the Spanish city we were in when I found out I was pregnant. Although I was excited throughout the pregnancy (and maybe a little nervous!) I had no idea the incredible positive impact she would have on our lives. She has been such a blessing and kept me very busy for the first year of her life.

Now roughly two years after I decided to put photography on hold I now feel ready to pursue my passion again. Sevilla is a little more independent and although still keeps me busy I am ready to dive back in. I’m always striving to improve my craft by taking workshops, reading books, staying update to date with all the current trends in the industry and of course taking tons of photos. I can’t wait to start making this a reality again. This is an exciting time!
